Semaprochilodus taeniurus

 In Fish Specific

They had these at Pacific Aquarium and I was looking for a larger fish that wouldn’t mess with my plantings or the other gourami in the tank too much, looked pretty cool and fit the bill so I went for it. I have poor fish-impulse control.

It was suggested that he would mess with the glossostigma and mosses, but I have found that he’s just generally a good algae eater, if a bit easily spooked (and when he gets spooked, everything has to move).

I got him around 5″ tip to tip I’d have to say he’s around 7.5″ now, hoping he’ll get bigger in which case I will move him into the 220 Gallon once it’s cycled.
